Recently Priyanka Chopra’s mother, Madhu Chopra revealed about the difficult journey of her daughter in the glamorous world. After Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein was accused of s*xual harassment by several women last month, many Bollywood actresses including Swara Bhaskar, Richa Chadha, Dia Mirza took on social media to raise voice against the harassment in the industry.
During a recent interview with Deccan Chronicle, Priyanka Chopra’s mother who is also the co-founder of Purple Pebble Pictures said that her daughter lost many projects because she did not satisfy the demands of the directors. Madhu Chopra proudly said that her daughter, Priyanka Chopra didn’t comprise on her values. As PeeCee entered into the industry at the tender age of 17, Madhu Chopra guided her through the difficult situations in the industry.
Here is what she said in a statement,
”She was just 17 when she entered the industry, so I accompanied her every minute of the day till about three years ago. So a gentleman meets her and says: ‘Will your mother sit outside while I narrate the story to you?’ Priyanka told him, ‘If it is a story that my mother can’t hear then it is a story that I cannot do,”
Revealing some shocking facts, Madhu Chopra said that once a reputed director from the industry asked Priyanka Chopra to wear revealing clothes. The director said,
‘What is the point of having a Miss World in front of the camera if we cannot show her as her beautiful self? Priyanka refused to do the film. It was being helmed by a reputed director and he got upset. Priyanka lost 10 films because she walked out of that project. But she didn’t care. That is what I say to everyone. This is not the end of your life. Your life is more valuable.”
Spilling beans on some of the strangest situations her daughter encountered in the industry, Madhu Chopra said that a woman should never compromise on her values and morals. Talking about how proud she is for her daughter, Madhu said that Priyanka carries India with herself wherever she goes! She talks to everyone about the country and greets everyone with Namaste.
