Bollywood’s veteran actress, Nargis Rabadi popularly known as Shammi Aunty passes away due to prolonged illness at the age of 89. The Parsi actress appeared in more than 200 movies and in several television shows, one among the memorable serials is Dekh Bhai Dekh.
It was Amitabh Bachchan who broke this news on the internet and paid his tribute to the legendary actress. He wrote,
“Shammi Aunty .. prolific actress, years of contribution to the Industry, dear family friend .. passes away ..!! A long suffered illness, age ..Sad .. slowly they all go away..”
It is a just third month of the year and the Bollywood’s sky is a bit dark this year. After losing legendary actress, Sridevi just a week back, Bollywood has lost one more iconic actress. Shammi Aunty was well known for her comic timings and roles. She started working in the industry in 1949 and has an illustrious career in Bollywood for 64 years.
Born as Nargis Rabadi, the actress took a drastic step by changing her name to Shammi as Bollywood already had “Nargis” ruling the industry that time. Her forte was playing goofy roles and she played them with all her heart.
Towards the end, the actress was seen playing the role of a grandmother in popular serials like Dekh Bhai Dekh, Zabaan Sambhal Ke, Shriman Shrimati, Kabhi Yeh Kabhi Woh, Filmi Chakkar, and Shararat.
You’re gone Shammi aunty but you will always be remembered as the goofy grandma!
